CRUSH (Buy CDs by this artist) Crush (EastWest) 1993 A useful reminder that you can't judge a band by its genealogy, this witless melodic modern-rock quartet boasts original Killing Joke drummer Paul Ferguson and mid-'80s Siouxsie and the Banshees guitarist John Valentine Carruthers (also ex-Clock DVA, Lloyd Cole). That singer Fred Schreck is a New Jersey goth veteran is more salient. None too smart, utterly ordinary (woven together from bits of Big Country, Bad Company, Simple Minds and Rage Against the Machine the band should have been called Big, Bad & Simple Machine) and produced to a glossy pallor by Pat Moran, Crush is a generic waste of plastic.
