Gargoyle Sox

  • Gargoyle Sox
  • As the Master SleepsÂ… EP (Metro-America) 1985

The front cover pictures the face from the shroud of Turin; songs titles range from “Sickness” and “Succubus” to “Evil Exhibition”; the music is straight from the Batcave. As sepulchral rock bands go, these gothsters are pretty effective, stirring up dark ambience with fuzzed-out guitars and ominously intoned lyrics. Not as much fun as the Cramps’ graveyard prowls, but ideal for séances.
