Responsible for a brief Dead End Kids fashion fad in Great Britain, the JoBoxers melded Dig Wayne, a black singer from New York, with the (non-Vic Godard) remnants of Subway Sect to play bouncy, catchy R&B tinged with big-band jazz. Like Gangbusters contains a couple of swell singles (“Boxerbeat,” “Just Got Lucky”) but is otherwise formulaic and uninspired.
