This French quartet has the ’80s version of swinging ’60s go-go beat down pat. They season it with atonalities and spooky effects (courtesy of keyboardist and sometime chanteur Francoise; there’s no guitarist) as well as occasional shifts into unlikely rhythms. Emerging through all of this is the gruff Gallic growl of main vocalist Renaud Isaac, painting verbal pictures (in French) of themes like dancing, violence and boredom. The lyrics are actually quite clever in spots, and the music is catchy in its offbeat way.
