Having seen two former Generation X colleagues — Billy Idol and Tony (Sigue Sigue Sputnik) James — score big in the ’80s British popstakes, guitarist Bob “Derwood” Andrews set out to make a colorful (if emptyheaded and juvenile) stab at British chart fame in this gimmicky comic book trio with American singer Elizabeth Westwood and Welsh drummer Nick Burton. Rockulator melts down parts of Sigue Sigue, Wide Boy Awake, Bow Wow Wow, Haysi Fantayzee and other equally significant sources, seasoning the mélange with sound effects, borrowed bites and assorted production distractions. Cute and ridiculous.
