Davy Jones has died of a heart attack at age 66. If there's a plus side to this, maybe it'll be enough to finally remind the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame voters that despite the Monkees' prefab origin, they stubbornly made themselves into a real - and great - band.

Wow ... I never was a Monkees fan, but Davy always seemed as "ageless" as McCartney, or even Dick Clark. It's weird to think he's gone.

RIP.
Damn. I grew up watching those old Monkees TV shows.
I once met him. He had an Amazonian brunette on each arm. They might have been 5'10" apiece ... which is indeed "Amazonian" by comparison.
He signed my Monkees brochure ... which I geo-cached in a treasure chest somewhere. Maybe. Truth hardly matters in this context.
I did really meet him.
66 doesn't seem old enough.

Heck, yeah. They vote in mutha-fuggin' Donovan but not The Monkees. Figure out that one.
I am listening to the classic "Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd." album in Davy's honor.

My wife has apparently spent much of the day watching old Davy clips, as she's now sent me several. There was the obligatory Brady Bunch "Girl" one, of course, and then this.
Davy might be my least favorite of the Monkees, but it's still sad that he's gone.
