STEVE - I know you were one of the first of us on here. Is there a way to search the messages or reverse the order somehow to see what those earliest posts were? I just can't bring myself to manually scroll all the way back thru eight years.

In any event, happy damn b-day, fellow TP losers! Let's see if we can't get some girls on here this year, how 'bout it?

http://trouserpress.com/forum/list.php?f=1&t=1073008860&a=2

I see some long-dormant usernames on these early threads:
ephraimbrown, jv, Floyd Eberhard, knuckles, ruffdog, jglauner

Scroll forward a few months/years if you want to read some unbelievably educational posts from Paganizer on the audio spectrum.

Funny how one's own tastes change over time. Poking around back in the archives I managed to find a post listing my favorite 50 albums of all time as of early 2005. I still think that all 50 on the list are fine albums but at least 1/3 of them have me asking myself "Was there really a time when I thought THAT was one of the 50 best albums I'd ever heard?"

Fess up, Brad. What records are we talking about?

Stuff like Tori Amos Little Earthquakes, Belle and Sebastian If You're Feeling Sinister, Kid Creole Off the Coast of Me, a few others - again, albums that I still consider to be great albums, but not necessarily ones that I would put on a "50 Favorites of All Time" list as of 2012.

Then again, I've not listened to any of them for several years now. Maybe if I did I'd remember why I was willing to put them on that list in 2005.

Rhett,

You've had seven years to look up the lyrics to "land of the glass pinecones" by hsr. Find 'em yet?

So how did you get back to the beginning of the list, nose?

It's very weird to go back and see a post of my own from December 2003. Even weirder is that I have a specific recollection of actually writing down those HSR lyrics and posting them on here in response to that dude's question, but that post no longer shows up. (Edit: we were apparently writing our posts at the same time, nose!)

Let's raise a glass in honor of those former frequent visitors who no longer (or rarely) pop in to say hello: Floyd Eberhard, michael baker, mjm90210 (or whatever his name was), scratchie, satchmykels, etc. You're welcome back anytime, gentlemen!

Raise a glass, also, to our sole once semi-regular, now sadly long-absent female contributor, Carmen. And to Rivka, who was a girl that many of us thought was a guy, due to unfortunate Gentile ignorance of Hebrew names.

Don't forget STEVE's good buddy, the Billy Idol-loving Shizzle.

There was that one guy who posted for a couple of weeks then got huffy with us because all we ever did was talk about music, so he told us off and left. But I don't remember his name.

I always wondered if he thought this was a pants pressing message board or something, because otherwise his irritation with all the music talk was pretty mysterious.

I always think back fondly to the email that Ira shared, from "Someone who actually was there." The guy had sent Ira his pissed-off response to this site's Clan of Xymox review.

Too bad the guy didn't get an account here on the board and start posting regularly. Someone with that much passion about one band could've brought a lot more amusement.

Let us not forget good ol' Jonny Thai with his whimsical anecdotes and keen insights. And Elephant's postings of his lists of thousands of CDs available for trade. Ah, those were the days....

I always loved that Ira titled the post "Fanmail from a Flounder." Gotta love a Bullwinkle reference.

"You are a walking cliche nightmare, a bloated pig jester of fools riding high on a crooked crown."

Wow, he should be writing lyrics for Marilyn Manson.

That thread also had comments from most of Brad's missing in action commenters (the exception being Delvin).

"Everything will die for you
Everyone will cry for you
Evelyn, evelyn, evelyn"

I thought we needed a little Xymoxian wisdom.
