I wonder how long this will take to blow up all over the media:

That's pretty interesting. I wonder how their most hardcore fan base, a lot of whom have been pretty vocal in their disdain for the band once it signed with Sire, are going to take this.

Never heard of Against Me, even though they're from the same town where I went to college (had to look them up for some context to the article...didn't know if they were a new band, the type of music, etc.)

I dont know much about the band other than that Ben Harper strangely did a cover version of one of their albums soon after the original came out. I listened to the original album and the cover album both precisely once. I heard nothing whatsoever in the mediocre material which made it worthy of such a tribute.
Its interesting, for sure, he wants to be a woman. I tend to think people who have a psychological compulsion to change their gender have a serious mental illness, and if, actually having the surgery makes them happy, then God bless.

New Wave is pretty great. From what little I listened to from the follow-up, though, it was awful.
More power to him if this is what he feels he needs to do to feel comfortable in his own skin. Kudos especially to his wife, who accepts him (her?) as he is and is sticking by him.

I like 'New Wave' a lot. The best thing about it, is Gabel's voice. So, I am very curious as to how this will turn out.

Well, it worked for Walter/Wendy Carlos. 40 years later and still going strong. Made some of her best music post-op.
