Morrissey will retire in two years. My gf's response: 'He'll be performing his new hit "I Bite the hand that feeds me, now that I am bloated and no longer relevant?"' Sounds like a Morrissey song title to me...
BTW, I think Alex Trebek will be hanging them up around the same time.
Catch 'em while you can.

"While dictatorships throughout the Middle East are gently condemned by the British government, there is no examination of the extremism enforced by the British 'royals', who remain the most overpaid and most utterly useless people on the planet. Having done nothing to earn our respect, they demand everything by return. It is a cunning and extravagant form of benefit fraud."
I mean, he's got a fucking point.
And anyone who keeps Boz Boorer gainfully employed is ok with me.

I wouldnt mind having a constitutional monarchy. At least you get some enjoyment out of watching a royal family and visiting their castle. What do we get out of supporting the financial criminals in this country, who by the way, steal a hell of a lot more of our money?

I wouldn't say that an argument against one is an argument for the other. And I certainly don't see a monarchy as any kind of antidote to the financial malfeasance in this country.
It seems like Moz is the only pop music subject with enough balls to call it what it is anymore. Wasn't that endemic to the punk movement? It made me a bit ill to see (Sir Paul) McCartney and the others sucking up so demonstratively.

I'm Canadian and probably owe most of my musical taste to the queen.
80s anglophilia filtered through our Crown-sponsored CBC radio late night music programming.
Probably easier to identify with the Smiths growing up in a foggy, working class seaside port, than a town of comparable size anywhere in the U.S.
