Cool, thanks for the heads-up. They are playing the Iota outside of DC in June. Wonder what they're like live? I actually preferred the Stamey-Holsapple Mavericksto any of the dB's proper albums.

I saw the dB's at SXSW this year. They were fucking fantastic. About half-and-half new material (which is really good) and older songs. Though if you prefer Mavericks to the dB's catalog, I don't know what to say.

Glad to see the love here for the great dB's.
Earlier this year, I launched a blog devoted to The dB's, its members and their many musical collaborations:
http://dbs-repercussion.blogspot.com/
I post new stuff with rare or live music once a week. Coming soon: The dB's recent live set in Hoboken, N.J. zwirnm, you can check it out and satisfy your curiosity re: what they sound like live.
BTW, I've heard the new album and I think it's amazing. You can get one more new track, "Revolution of the Mind", by going to the band's site at Reverbnation:

One more new one, "Before We Were Born", is here:

ENJOY!

I'm actually really interested in that Rush album. Not as much as I am in the dB's album, but definitely interested. I like this smoother, less complex, more human sound they've developed over the past decade or so. (Rush, not the dB's.) I'm really infatuated with the song "Far Cry" off Rush's last record.

Toland,
Hows that new Rush record? Just curious.
Anyone listened to that DB record beginning to end?

I just got the new Rush album today (along with the new Japandroids and Royal Headache records) and haven't had a chance to listen yet.
I've listened to the new dB's record many times. - it's excellent.

Yes, on Spotify today (well, I lie...all except the last few songs). I don't know if I'd say it's "excellent," but it's definitely better than average. I'll listen some more next week and see if it grows on me some more.

No need to settle for less than the whole thing.
Rolling Stone is streaming the full album, right now:

Missed them last night outside of DC, because my wife argued I'd seen the Clean the prior week, and I was on duty :(
