I love The Church and liked Remy Zero just fine when they were around, so how is it that Steve Kilbey and Jeffrey Cain have managed to put out two albums under the name of Isidore and I just now heard of them? I'm kind of ashamed of myself.
Anyhow, the other day I happened across a copy of their second album, Life Somewhere Else, and it's tasty stuff.

I never heard of this either. I am intrigued but a little skeptical of the 5-star amazon reviews:

I am not sure I seek for "images of oceans, skies, dolphins, seals" in my music. Kilbey can get a little artsy-fartsy without MWP laying down some great guitar riffage behind him.

Well, I've been listening to it mostly in my car, so the main images I've been associating with it are interstate traffic.
The disc I have - the second one - is definitely more moody than muscular, but it has several songs that have a nice kick to them. Kilbey's lyrics, from what I've bothered to decipher, suggest that the entire project might be about someone named "Isidore", as she's referenced in a few of the songs. So the whole thing might be like Voivod or Coheed & Cambria - a concept album isn't enough, it must be a concept career.
But that's just a guess. I'd have to listen much more closely than I really intend to, since I've pretty much always enjoyed Kilbey for his sound more than his sense.
