 Morrissey being controversial (again)

Even as a diehard sympathizer, I'm getting tired of it. Lloyd Cole (on Facebook) put it best: Moz is "not as deft at courting controversy" as he once was.

First of all, Berlin hosted the 1936 Olympics, not 1939. I'm not sure if the fault here lies with Morrissey or the writer(s)/editor(s) of this particular piece, but this is an egregious error. Among other things, Germany invaded Poland in 1939.

London dominates the UK much like New York City dominates the US. I was watching a Little League playoff game with my 8- and 5-year old earlier tonight (save your slings and arrows, they asked to watch it), and 3/4 of the team from New Mexico named a member of the Yankees their favorite player (Jeter, Posada, Granderson [!])...this speaks for itself.

As for the jingoism charge, he's right. If he watched Leni Riefenstahl's Olympia, however, I'd like to believe Morrissey would gain an understanding of just how full of shite he is...
