Having seen that band, along with numerous others from all three waves of ska, I have to say that honor rightly goes to The Skatalites.

I'm "esteemed" now, am I? Heh heh. Well (he said, adjusting his gown and mortar board), the Specials first is my fave ska album; Toots, my fave live. Tho Fishbone's early daze were as part of the ska scene - that's when I first saw 'em, and their live awesomness has been well-attested to here.
Nuthin wrong with Bad Manners. They aint nuthin but fun, fun, fun. And 'twas nice to see Madness at the Olympics cLosing, even if they did play "Our House." Still, any kind of massive worldwide audience for the Nutty Boys is fine by me.

Actually covered Bad Manners back in the ska days (Special Brew & Ivor The Engine) and the BM stuff on Dance Craze looks chaotic but Toots is in my top 3 concerts of all time.
